Donor Recognition Signage

This undisclosed education client is one of the leading public city universities in New York. Undergoing extensive renovations, Piscatello Design Centre was brought on as signage consultants for their large, permanent Donor Recognition Wall and Living plant wall.

The intent for the wall is to acknowledge the alumni donors that have contributed to the renovations and the longevity of the client.

The Donor Wall illustrates a hierarchy of donors, indicative of the amount of money donated. “Tier 1” on the top row donated the largest sum of money. The size of the plaques and cap height of the donor names visually show the hierarchy as well.

Under the guidance of Rocco Piscatello, I conveyed the client’s design intent into thorough documentation for fabrication. In addition, I created all the final artwork files for the donor plaque for production. The Living plant wall & Donor Recognition Signage is scheduled to be installed by Fall 2021

Onsite Sample Review

Upon receiving the samples from the fabricator, I reviewed them onsite with the stone wall in the background. The donor wall plaques consist of three types of stainless steel.

Left to Right: Non Directional Stainless Steel, Vertical Brush Stainless Steel, and Horizontal Brush Stainless Steel .

The lettering is consistent throughout the donor plaques: Horizontal Brush Stainless Steel. This condition satisfies the
client’s request of having the names as visible as possible on the stone wall and fit within the budget.

I worked with the fabricator to develop a custom framing system for the D5 Exterior Main Identification. The individual letters are installed on the custom channel letter mounting frame. The distance of the letters to the Living plant wall can be adjusted through the tube frame, as the plants grow overtime.

The donor plaques are screwed onto the Stone wall. The angles of the plaques, mimic the angled reveals of the stone.
